Bombardier is planning to build 150 CSeries jets every year by 2016, it has been reported.
Airplane manufacturer Bombardier has announced it that it plans to build 150 of its CSeries jets a year by 2016, according to Bloomberg.
By doing so, the company aims to meet the demand for smaller airliners, while leaving Boeing and Airbus to concentrate on larger models.
The production of the 110 to 130 seat fuel-efficient CSeries Jets will start in 2012, with the initial delivery planned for late 2013.
Bombardier's commercial aviation chief, Gary Scott, told Bloomberg: "We think we can capture 50 per cent of the market [for 100 to 149 seat jets].
"We're talking 3,000 airplanes over 20 years. We can expect to average 150 but some years it'll be much more than that."
Prices for the CSeries Jets are listed at $49 million for the large 130-seat model and $43 million for the smaller 110-seat model.
Bombardier is likely to face competition from Russia's OAO Sukhoi Aviation and Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, which are both currently designing lighter aircraft.
