Airbus supporting Singapore Airlines
Tuesday, 16 September 2008

Airbus has signed an agreement with Singapore Airlines to provide support to its future fleet of A330 aircraft.

Aircraft manufacturer Airbus has signed total care contracts for 19 A330 aircraft that are currently on order by Singapore Airlines.

Under the agreement, Airbus Customer Service will provide through-life support, fleet management services, line and base maintenance and full component support. All of these services are offered under the company's Flight Hour Services.

Services included under the contract will be performed by members from the Airbus maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) network, as well as equipment manufacturers.

The maintenance package will be delivered to Singapore Airlines upon delivery of the first A330, which is scheduled for the beginning of 2009. It is one of several total care contracts that Airbus has signed with Singapore Airlines.

"This is the most comprehensive selection yet of Airbus' expanding portfolio of services solutions which… will help airlines meet their business objectives by increasing fleet availability and reducing operating costs," said Charles Champion, executive vice-president of customer services at Airbus.

This week, Airbus announced that GKN will purchase its Bristol-based wing component and assemblies manufacturing unit, as part of its Power8 initiative to divest costs and risk. The unit will continue to contribute to Airbus' current and future programmes.
