Wednesday, 02 July 2008

Xiamen Airline has selected a suite of avionics from Rockwell Collins for 12 Boeing 737NG aircraft it waiting to have delivered.

Having placed an order with Boeing for 12 B-737NG aircraft, with an option for 25 more, Chinese firm Xiamen Airlines has now chosen a suite of Rockwell Collins avionics for its new planes, which are due for deliver between 2009 and 2013.

Among the systems chosen by the airline is Rockwell Collins' WXR-2100 MultiScan Hazard Detection System, which is a radar system that analyses and determines weather hazards and atmospheric moisture content.

The company's Automatic Direction Finder ADF-900, its Distance Measuring Equipment DME-900, Data Radio HSF-900D, Coupling Unit CPL-920D and GPS Landing Unit GLUE-925 were also selected by Xiamen, among others.

"Xiamen Airlines and Rockwell Collins have developed a long, trusted relationship and we're proud to be able to continue that through this selection," said Jeff Standerski, vice president and general manager of air transport systems for Rockwell Collins.

Last month, Boeing announced that it had successfully completed 100 flights with the first of 200 Lockheed C-130 turbo-prop military airlifters to be retrofitted with digital avionics systems, as part of the company's Avionics Modernisation Programme (AMP).
