Boc Aviation acquires A320s
Thursday, 06 November 2008

The Singapore based aircraft lessor has signed a firm order for 20 Airbus jets.

Singapore-based leasing company Boc Aviation has placed a firm order for 20 Airbus A320 family aircraft, it has been revealed.

The company, which is owned by the Bank of China, is the largest aircraft leasing company in Asia. To date, it has ordered 98 single-aisle aircraft directly from Airbus, of which some 58 have so far been delivered.

Included among its future orders are five A330-200F aircraft, a new freighter derivative of its popular A330 passenger plane due to enter into service next year.

John Leahy, chief operating officer of customers for Airbus, said that the order from Boc Aviation represents a "vote of confidence" in the A320 family, particularly as airlines look to replace older planes with newer, more efficient models.

"It also reflects the proven underlying value of the A320 family as a long-term investment for the aircraft leasing community," he added.

The A320 family includes the A318, A319, A320 and A321 models, and is one of the most popular ranges in the commercial aviation industry, with more than 6,300 orders to date.

Last month, Croatia Airlines signed a firm order for the purchase of four A319s, which will be powered by CFM International CFM56-5 engines and deployed on routes across Europe.ADNFCR-1516-ID-18862071-ADNFCR
