Boeing Delivers 737-800 to Sunwing
Thursday, 03 July 2008

Canadian company Sunwing Airlines received a Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft from Boeing this week, as part of a wider order.

The Boeing Company has delivered a Next-Generation 737-800 to Sunwing Airlines, the third new plane to be delivered to the Canadian airline.

Announcing the delivery, Boeing explained that the airplane is equipped with blended winglets, which improve fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions by as much as four per cent. It will be operated on lease from the Aviation Capital Group (ACG).

Mark Williams, president of Sunwing Airlines, said that the delivery enhanced the company's fleet with the most cost-efficient, single-aisle aircraft available, adding that Sunwing will lease a second 737 from ACG in 2009, bringing its fleet size up to 15 aircraft, all Boeing 737-800s.

"The addition to our fleet of yet another state-of-the-art Boeing aircraft will allow us to continue our expansion and serve even more customers," he added.

Last month, Bangladesh national carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines added orders for two Next-Generation 737-800s to a pre-existing order for four Boeing 777-300ERs and four 787-8 Dreamliners.
