Monday, 02 June 2008

The International Lease Finance Corporation received its 75th Boeing 777 aircraft this week, a 777-300ER (Extended Range).

The Boeing Company has delivered a 777-300ER (Extended Range) aircraft to International Lease Finance Corp (ILFC), marking the delivery of the 75th 777-family aircraft purchased by the leasing company.

The aircraft will be leased to Cathay Pacific Airways, which operates 25 777s and is awaiting delivery of 22 777-300ERs, two of which will be leased from ILFC.

The new airplane, which was delivered on Wednesday May 28th, will join the airline's fleet of seven 777-300ERs, 12 777-300s, five 777-200s and 24 747-500s.

In total ILFC has ordered 79 777s from Boeing since 1992, making it the aircraft family's largest customer.

According to Boeing, the 777 family of aircraft is the market leader for the 300-to-400 seat segment. It estimates that some 1,080 777s have been ordered to date by 56 different customers around the world, making it the most successful twin-engine wide-body airplane on the market.

Earlier this month, Boeing began work on the first Boeing Business Jet 3, a larger business jet based on the Boeing Next Generation 737-900ER (Extended Range), which will enter service in 2009.ADNFCR-1516-ID-18619226-ADNFCR
