Carrier EgyptAir has received its third Boeing NG 737-800 aircraft.
The Boeing Company delivered EgyptAir's third next-generation (NG) 737-800 jet aircraft this week.
The aircraft is the carrier's first to carry the Star Alliance livery, following EgyptAir's induction into the 21 member-strong organisation at the beginning of July.
With admission into the alliance, EgyptAir has embarked upon expanding its network to 1,624 weekly flights to 69 destinations around the world. The new aircraft was part of these expansion plans.
EgyptAir will look to expand its passenger load further over the next few years, as the Cairo Airport Authority prepares to open a dedicated Star Alliance terminal, capable of serving up to 11 million passengers a year.
Last month, Boeing signed an order with Air China for the delivery of 15 777-300ER (extended range) and 30 NG 737-800 jetliners.
As of July 2008, some 115 customers have ordered over 4,800 NG 737s, 2,600 of which have been delivered by Boeing. Unfulfilled orders are valued at over $160 billion (£86 billion) at current list prices.
