Boeing has announced a new light attack/reconnaissance helicopter, named the AH-6.
The Boeing Company has announced a new rotorcraft programme for the development of a light attack/reconnaissance helicopter.
The so-called AH-6 has been designed on a combat-proven platform and promises to meet the Special Operations requirements of military customers all over the world.
Speaking at the US Army's annual Washington convention, Boeing rotorcraft business development director David Palm explained that demand is high for light attack and reconnaissance capabilities configures in a flexible rotorcraft platform.
"We believe this system is a perfect fit for those customers seeking long endurance, proven performance and 2,000-pound payload within an affordable helicopter," he added.
Boeing's AH-6 will feature electro-optical and infrared sight systems as well as state-of-the-art weapons mounts for Hellfire missiles, M260 seven-shot rocket pods, machine guns and mini-guns.
This week, the US aero-defence company announced that it delivered 12 F/A-18E/F and EA-18G fighter jets to customers in the third quarter, along with four new Chinooks, four C-17s and seven F-15 Eagles. |
