Boeing has rolled out the first F-15SG jet fighter to the Republic of Singapore.
The Boeing Company has finished production of the first F-14SG jet fighter to the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF).
A variant of the popular F-15 Eagle aircraft, the new model includes an integrated sensor suite with active electronically-scanned array (AESA) radar and a Sniper targeting pod for long-range air-to-air and air-to-ground capabilities.
In total, the RSAF has ordered 24 F-15SG aircraft which, Boeing claims, will help the RSAF to expand its mission capabilities over the coming decades.
"The F-15SG for Singapore moves the RSAF into the next generation of fighter aircraft capability," said Dan Korte, vice-president of global strike systems at Boeing.
The aircraft, which successfully completed its first flight on September 16th, will now undergo a rigorous one-year flight-test programme at Boeing's US facilities in St Louis and Palmdale.
Production deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2009 with the final F-15SG due to be handed over to the RSAF in 2012.
Last month, Boeing was awarded a $238 million (£151 million) contract by the US Air Force to modernise the AESA radar systems utilised by its fleet of F-15E fighters. |
