Bombardier will take over design and manufacturing duties for all structures in the new Learjet 85.
Aircraft manufacturer Bombardier has announced that it will assume complete responsibility for the detail, design and manufacturing of all primary and secondary structures for the Bombardier Learjet 85.
The change of direction signals the end of a development agreement with Grob Aerospace AG of Switzerland for the manufacture of structures for the medium-sized business jet.
Steve Ridolfi, president of business aircrafts at Bombardier, said: "Given the uncertainty surrounding Grob's insolvency, Learjet has decided to terminate its agreement with Grob Aerospace, effective September 17th, 2008.
"Bombardier Aerospace is taking decisive action and this decision reflects our strong commitment to both the Learjet 85 aircraft program and to a growing number of leading business jet customers worldwide."
The Learjet 85 is powered by a Pratt & Whitney Canada PW307B engine, has a cruise speed of Mach 0.82 and a transcontinental range of 3,000 nautical miles (5,556km).
Earlier this month, the aero-firm announced that it had received a new order from Austrian Airlines for the delivery of four Q400 NextGen turboprop airliners. |
