CAE has been awarded a number of new military contracts valued collectively at more than CAD$55 million (£30 million). Pilot training services firm CAE has been awarded a number of new contracts by Britain's Ministry of Defence (MoD); German defence procurement agency, Eurofighter Simulation Systems; Lockheed Martin and several other firms. The contracts form part of CAE's second quarter order book and will see the company upgrade its MoD's CH-47 Chinook simulators as well as overhauling Germany's Tornado and Eurofighter full-mission simulators. Work will also focus on providing sub-contracted maintenance support services to Lockheed Martin for C-130J training equipment operated by the Italian Air Force. "We continue to see good opportunities for simulation in defence markets around the world," commented Marc Parent, CAE's president of simulation products and military training and services. "The volatile price of fuel, environmental impacts, and significant wear and tear on weapon systems are leading governments and military forces to a greater use of simulation and synthetic training. "With our global footprint and expanding capabilities to serve the entire defence systems lifecycle, CAE is well-positioned for solid, steady growth of our military business."
