CIT Group orders ten A320s
Friday, 05 September 2008

CIT Group has ordered ten more Airbus A320-family aircraft, bringing its total to nearly 200.

Commercial finance company CIT Group has signed a firm contract with Airbus for the delivery of ten A320 aircraft.

Including this newest order, CIT has so far ordered 199 planes from Airbus, including 157 A320s, 30 A330s, seven A350s and five A319s - so far 100 of these planes have been delivered to the company.

The ten new aircraft, along with all the others, will be leased out to customers across the world, and underline the continued anticipated high demand for A320 family aircraft.

John Leahy, chief operating officer for customers at Airbus, said: "This order confirms the important role that leasing companies have in the aviation industry, particularly in the current market situation.

"It is also a re-affirmation of the continued success of our A320 family, allowing CIT to offer the most modern and efficient single aisle aircraft on the market today."

Last week, Grupo Marsans, the largest tourism group in Spain, took delivery of its first directly purchased Airbus A330-200. The aircraft will be operated by subsidiary Air Comet.
