Croatia Airlines orders four A320 family aircraft
Friday, 24 October 2008

The Croatian flag carrier has ordered four A319s.

Croatia Airlines, the national carrier of the Republic of Croatia, has signed a firm agreement for four Airbus A319s, it has been announced.

The A320 family aircraft will join the airline's rapidly expanding, medium-haul fleet of Airbus aeroplanes already in operation.

As well as sporting brand-new cabin designs which provide more passenger space, the ordered aircraft will be fitted with CFM56-6 engines from CFM International.

The aircraft will be configured in a two-class layout capable of seating 132 passengers and will be deployed on European and domestic routes.

"We are very pleased that Croatia Airlines, one of the largest and most successful airlines in the region, has further confirmed its confidence in the A320 family by expanding its order backlog with Airbus," said John Leahy, chief operating officer at Airbus.

The A320 family of aircraft includes the A318, the A319, the A320 and the A321. To date, more than 6,300 of these model aeroplanes have been ordered and 3,600 delivered to some 280 different customers.

Earlier this month, budget Mexican airline Volaris received its first A320, from an order placed in 2007 for 14 Airbus aeroplanes.ADNFCR-1516-ID-18842716-ADNFCR
