Embraer extends support for EMB 121 Xingu
Monday, 27 October 2008

Embraer has renewed a contract to provide 41 French EMB 121 Xingu aircraft with logistical support.

The French Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded Embraer a four year extension to its logistical support contract for the country's fleet of EMB 121 Xingu aeroplanes.

Embraer's twin-turboprop fixed-wing utility aircraft is primarily used by the Brazilian and French air forces, and comes fitted with Pratt & Whitney PT6A engines.

The through-life support contract includes engineering and on-sight technical support, as well as logistics for the 41 EMB 121s in service with the French armed forces.

“It is an enormous pleasure to renew this technical and logistical support contract for the fleet of EMB 121 Xingus in operation with the French Air Force and Navy,” said Geraldo Ferreira, vice-president of support for defence and government customers at Embraer.

The Xingu aircraft have been serving in France since 1983, when Embraer first began operations in the country through its international aviation subsidiary.

Some 32 of the aircraft are stationed at the Avord Base, where they are used for the training of military transport pilots. The other nine are used to transport official navy personnel.

On October 26th to 28th, Embraer hosted its third annual Airline Business Seminar in Cancun, Mexico, with the aim of educating Latin American airline industry bodies about various air transportation processes.ADNFCR-1516-ID-18844958-ADNFCR
