Rolls-Royce has delivered its first Trent engine to a customer in Latin America.
With the delivery of the first Trent 700-powered Airbus A330 to Avianca, the Rolls-Royce engine has successfully marked its Latin American debut.
Avianca's new plane includes the first Trent engine to be delivered to Latin America. The aircraft is one of ten Trent 700-powered A330s that were ordered at last year's Paris Air Show.
All engines are supported by aftermarket services for ten years under a TotalCare contract.
Fabio Villegas, president of Avienca, explained that A330 the fleet is equipped Trent 772B engines featuring "cutting-edge technology
lower fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions".
The arrival of the first new Trent in Latin America further demonstrates the Trent 700 is the clear engine choice on the A330 for fast-growing aviation markets," Peter Turner, vice-president of customer business at Rolls-Royce, added.
Avienca, the Columbian flag carrier, also ordered 47 Airbus A320 Family aircraft in May 2007, in addition to three A320s that it will operate via leasing companies.
On top of that, its main shareholder, the Synergy Group, recently purchased ten A350XWBs. |
