GD awarded F/A-18 Hornet support contract
Monday, 29 September 2008

The Swiss government has awarded General Dynamics with a contract to provide logistics and engineering support to its F/A-18 Hornet fighter fleet.

General Dynamics' Information Technology (GDIT) business unit has been awarded a lucrative new contract to provide aftermarket services to Switzerland's fleet of F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets.

The five-year contract was allocated to GDIT through US Naval Air Systems Command and has a maximum potential value of $25.7 million (£14.2 million) if all options are exercised.

Under the terms of the agreement, GDIT will provide logistics, IT, engineering and through-life support for global Swiss F/A-18 Hornet operations in addition to communications management and training services.

"International air forces are turning to recognised global technology services leaders to enhance their operations and responsiveness," said Cresswell Elmore, GDIT vice-president of logistics for air force systems.

"General Dynamics' worldwide support for the Swiss F/A-18 Hornet fleet reflects our proven capabilities in providing international services and technology support."

Earlier this month, GDIT announced completion of the migration of Air and Space Expeditionary Force (AEF) network infrastructure from Langley Air Force Base in Virginia to Randolph Air Force Base in Texas.ADNFCR-1516-ID-18801386-ADNFCR
