Sikorsky has selected Goodrich Corporation to provide its CH-53K heavy-lift helicopter with an IVHMS.
Goodrich Corporation has signed a contract with Sikorsky Aerospace to provide Integrated Vehicle Health Management Systems (IVHMS) for the new CH-53K heavy-lift helicopter currently in development for the US Marine Corps.
A modern variant of the CH-53E, the aircraft features all-new digital avionics, increased range and lift capability to suit the requirements of the Marines.
The IVHMS monitors CH-53K aircraft sub-systems providing Marines with a complete health assessment of the aircraft and allowing for the provision of condition-based maintenance.
Jan Mathiesen, vice-president of sensors and integrated systems at Goodrich, said: "The CH-53K will perform the most urgent and demanding heavy-lift missions, and the Marines need to know their aircraft are ready and able to execute these missions on short notice.
"The data this system provides to operators and maintainers translates directly into increased mission readiness rates with lower overall maintenance and operating costs."
Earlier this month, Sikorsky successfully completed the first flight of its UH-60M Upgrade Black Hawk helicopter, currently the only fly-by-wire rotary wing aircraft being developed by the US Army. |
