Greece has expressed interest in acquiring upgrades and support for its fleet of F-16 fighters.
Greece has requested a possible sale of 50 Enhanced Paveway II kits and continuation of sustainment support for the Hellenic Air Force (HAF) F-16 fleet as well as associated equipment and services.
The proposed contract includes through-life support; minor modifications, repair and return; structural integrity programme services; spare and repair parts; as well as engineering, technical and logistics support.
According to the United States Defence Security Cooperation Agency, the total value of the sale, if all options and aftermarket services are exercised, could be in the region of $133 million (£75 million).
If the sale is completed, Greece will be better positioned to meet its foreign policy and national security objectives with improved military capabilities.
The Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon is a multirole jet fighter originally developed by General Dynamics for the US Air Force.
Introduced in 1978, the Falcon is the largest Western fighter program; over 4,400 aircraft have been built and supplied to 25 national air forces since production began. |
