Helicopters NZ has signed a contract for the delivery of three AugustaWestland AW139 helicopters plus options for a further two.
Aircraft manufacturer AugustaWestland has announced the receipt of a new order from Helicopters New Zealand (NZ) for the delivery of three AW139 medium twin-turbine engine helicopters as well as options for a further two.
These new aircraft are in addition to the two AW139s that Helicopters NZ has previously ordered, the first of which was delivered by AugustaWestland and is now in service.
The new helicopters will be leased out to leading companies operating in the region and used for offshore transport purposes. Helicopters NZ will also provide maintenance and technical services.
Denis Laird, manager of Helicopters NZ, said: "The AW139's unequalled features have further enhanced Helicopter New Zealand's capability in satisfying its customers' exigencies which are proving more and more demanding."
The AW139 is one of the most popular medium twin-engine helicopters in the market, and services a number of organisations, including the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the Italian Coast Guard, the Norwegian Ministry of Justice and the UAE Air Force.
To date, AugustaWestland has received orders for some 340 aircraft from nearly 100 commercial and government customers in nearly 40 different countries.
