Lockheed Martin secures $16.5 million deal with US Navy
Tuesday, 30 June 2009

The US Navy has signed a contract with Lockheed Martin for the delivery of Paveway II Enhanced Laser Guided Training Rounds (E-LGTR).

The deal is worth a total of $16.5 million.

The deal is an extension of an existing contract and will see Lockheed Martin increase its supply of E-LGTRs to the US Navy to over 50,000.

The increase in deliveries is set for 2010.

Captain Matt Winter, US Navy Precision Strike Weapons Program manager, said that the E-LGTR was an essential piece of equipment for US Navy training.

He said: "It is critical that our Warfighter has the tools to train exactly as they fight. Lockheed Martin's E-LGTR is a proven, combat representative munition that provides the Warfighter with operationally realistic and cost-effective direct-attack weapons employment training."

The E-LGTR is compatible with AV-8, F-16 and FA-18 as well as multiple international platforms.
