AgustaWestland has sold ten AW139 helicopters to Ornge of Ontario, Canada.

Canadian non-profit organisation Ornge has ordered ten AW139 medium-twin helicopters from AgustaWestland, as well as options for two more.

The charity, which specialises in the transport of medical supplies across Ontario, will pay approximately $120 million (£69 million) for the helicopters.

All of the AW139s will be equipped with full aero-medical interiors and a de-icing system for operation during bad weather conditions.

With more than 300 employees, Ornge operates one of the largest aero-medical and critical care land transport medicine programmes in the entire of North America.

In similar news, natural resources giant Chevron has ordered two AW139s which will be operated from company heliports in the US for a variety of offshore production and drilling operations.
