Pratt & Whitney has agreed a global JT9D parts distribution contract with Aviall Services.
Engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney (P&W) has announced a new agreement with Aviall Services for the exclusive global distribution of JT9D spare parts.
Under the terms of the agreement, Aviall will supply operators with P&W original equipment manufacturer (OEM) spare parts for the JT9D engine.
Todd Kallman, president of commercial engines at P&W, explained that the new partnership will allow P&W to offer its customers enhanced value while simultaneously improving the management of its inventory and supply chain.
"We have worked closely with Aviall and are confident that their broad distribution network will continue to support our customers with the world-class customer service they expect from Pratt & Whitney."
Produced between 1969 and 1990, the JT9D engine was primarily used to power Boeing 747s and 767s, Airbus A300s and Ad10s and McDonnell Douglas DC-10s.
The first high bypass ratio jet engine to power a wide-body aircraft, the JT9D was eventually replaced by the PW4000 family of engines. |
