The State of Qatar has ordered four C-130J Super Hercules airlifters.
Lockheed Martin (LM) has received a $394 million (£225 million) order from the State of Qatar for four C-130J Super Hercules airlifters and additional aftermarket services.
The contract includes provisioning for training and spares with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2011. The C-130J variant features a longer fuselage than the original model.
"This acquisition of a fleet of C-130Js will provide our country with a highly flexible airlift capability," said Brigadier General Ahmad Ibrahim Al-Malki, chairman of Qatar's Air Force airlift evaluation committee.
"No other aircraft can do what a C-130J can do and we are proud to join the many, many countries around the world that operate the world's most successful airlifter."
Earlier this month, the US Department of Defence recognised LM for the performance-based logistics (PBL) support provided to its fleet of F-22 Raptors |
