Saab launches maiden flight for Gripen Demo |

Saab unveiled its new Gripen demonstrator to the world this week, at a special media conference in Sweden.
Swedish aerospace company Saab has unveiled its Gripen Demonstrator, the latest inclusion in its line of fighter aircraft.
The aircraft features a new, stronger engine, improved electronics and avionics, built-in Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, a new landing gear and increased fuel and payload capacity.
The Gripen Demo is a flying test platform, which will be used to introduce new technology and functionality to future Gripen aircraft.
Ake Svensson, chief executive of the company, said: "This is a landmark event for Saab and its international industrial partners and a significant moment in the future of fighter aircraft technology and performance.
"I am very proud of what we have achieved and am confident that this next generation of Gripen will be blazing trails in skies for years to come."
The Saab JAS 39 Gripen was first introduced into service in 1996, and is currently being utilised by the Swedish Air Force, the Czech Air Force, the Hungarian Air Force, and the South African Air Force. As of 200, some 236 Gripens have been ordered in total. |
