Uzbekistan Airways has formally submitted an order with aircraft manufacturer Boeing for four 767-300ER planes.
Uzbekistan Airways has formally submitted an order with aircraft manufacturer Boeing for four 767-300ER planes.
The flag carrier submitted the order - estimated to be valued in the region of $597 million (£381 million) - late last week.
The planes will complement its existing orders for two Boeing 787-8s and four 767-300ERs. It already operates a fleet of six Boeing 757-200s and five 767-300ERs.
Insisting that the airline and the manufacturer enjoy a "very special relationship," Craig Jones , Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president of sales for Russia & Central Asia, welcomed the new order.
"These 767 models provide excellent efficiency, reliability and outstanding passenger comfort for Uzbekistan Airways' international routes," he said in a company press release.
Valeri Tyan, general director of Uzbekistan Airways, added that his company looked forward to the release of Boeing's forthcoming 787 Dreamliner, but until then viewed the 767 as "the economical and logical choice" for its services.
The 767-300ER has a maximum capacity of 350 passengers and can fly for up to 5,975 nautical miles. Boeing currently has over 1,000 outstanding orders for 767s, including 562 767-300ERs.
