Viking Air awarded heavy maintenance contract by AAA |

A major contract has been awarded to Viking Air by the Argentinean military.
A Canadian aviation maintenance firm has been awarded a major contract by the Argentinean military. Viking, based in Victoria, British Columbia, announced Friday(September 11th) that it had been handed the deal by The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) acting on behalf of the Government of Argentina and the Argentine Aeronautic Administration (AAA). The work will start in October this year, and will see Viking perform engine maintenance and upgrades on the Argentine military's DHC-6-200 Twin Otters. David Curtis, Viking chief executive, said: "We are honoured to be selected by the Argentinean Air Force (AAF) for this contract. "As the Twin Otter OEM we are best positioned to return the aircraft to like-new factory condition after 40 years of service and extend its life for many years to come." All contract work will be performed at Viking's facility at Victoria International Airport, and will include major "D" check, installation of Pratt and Whitney Canada PT6A-27 engines and Hartzell 3 blade props. Boeing recently announced that it had acquired the unmanned air systems developer, Insitu.
