Boeing delivers 777-300ER to Tam Airlines
Tuesday, 19 August 2008

The Boeing Company has delivered Brazilian Tam Airlines its first 777-300ER jet.

Tam Airlines, Brazil's largest carrier, has received the first of eight Boeing 777-300ER (extended range) jetliners it ordered from the aeroplane maker.

Tam is the first Latin American customer for the 777-300ER, which is the largest, long-range, twin-engine jetliner in the world. It is powered by General Electric GE-90 Series engines.

The new jetliners will be used to operate international flights within South America, as well as connecting flights between Brazil and Europe.

"The 777-300ER will provide Tam with the lowest fuel consumption and operating costs available for aeroplanes in this class," said John Wojick, vice president of Latin American sales at Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

The new 777s feature the Boeing Class 3 Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) - an electronic data package that replaces the traditional flight manual, providing further operational and safety benefits.

"Advanced avionics of the EFB, will further improve Tam's operating economics and reduce emissions," explained Mr Wojick.

Boeing is currently in negotiations with the Brazilian Air Force about the possibility of supplying it with advanced F/A-18E/F Super Hornet jet fighters.ADNFCR-1516-ID-18740088-ADNFCR
